Our Founder
The Security Academy exists because of a decision made in 2013: The Vanquish Group would only ever recruit operatives who had passed its own courses.
That standard was set by Michael Chandler, Chief Operating Officer of The Vanquish Group and a British security and counter-intelligence specialist. He wrote the group's original surveillance course, and later published The Real Guide to Surveillance, Technical Surveillance Countermeasures and The Art of Protection.
The Security Academy brings that same material online, taught by people who still work in the field
Our Story
Most security training is written by trainers. Ours is written by operatives.
The courses on this site began life as internal training for a working security group. They were built to solve real problems: how to investigate a threat rather than just stand next to the person receiving it, how to spot surveillance before it becomes an incident, how to sweep a room properly. Every module has been used in the field before it was ever sold.
Taking that online was not about reaching more people cheaply. It was about reaching people who cannot take three weeks off work to attend a residential course, or who live nowhere near a training centre. The standard does not drop because the delivery changed. The assessments are the same, and so is the expectation.
Our courses are used by serving operatives topping up their skills, by people preparing to apply to the academy, and by professionals in adjacent fields who need to understand how surveillance and counter-surveillance actually work. What connects them is that none of it is theory.
